In January 2025, the John Terry Foundation awarded a £400 grant to Stone Cross Royals, a grassroots children’s football team, to sponsor their new team kit. For a small community club, this support meant far more than simply providing new shirts—it helped foster a sense of belonging, pride and opportunity for the young players.
Having a proper team kit allows children to feel part of something bigger, boosts confidence both on and off the pitch, and helps ease the financial pressure on families who may otherwise struggle with the cost of sportswear. This grant reflects the Foundation’s belief in the power of grassroots sport to build resilience, promote inclusion and give every child the chance to take part.
